From 20 years of experience, the author demonstrates how counselors can walk alongside people deeply wounded by sexual abuse as they face the truth about who they are, who their abuser was, and who God is as the Savior and Redeemer of all life. Book The Lindbergh Kidnapping: mobs, mass psychology and myth PDF Free

The Lindbergh Kidnapping: mobs, mass psychology and myth PDF
By:Jerry Kroth
Published on 2011-02-28 by Genotype

The Lindbergh kidnapping examines the incredible American hysteria over the kidnapping of the Lindbergh baby. This drama represented one of the biggest newspaper stories of the twentieth century. The lynch mob demanded blood and got it with the execution of the innocent Bruno Richard Hauptmann. This drama that unfolded was, at bottom, fully psychological as reality became a pawn to the whimsies of the collective psyche. Reviews: “A fascinating piece of psychological analysis that reads like an Agatha Christie novel. I couldn’t put it down!” —Marvin Forrest, Ph.D., psychotherapist, Santa Barbara “Dr. Kroth has provided a compelling analysis of the Lindbergh story that renders it in a completely new light. Prepare to have what you thought you knew thoroughly challenged!” —Jeff Kisling, Ph.D., psychotherapist, Palo Alt

Book A Most Detestable Crime PDF Free

A Most Detestable Crime PDF
By:Keith Burgess-Jackson
Published on 1999 by Oxford University Press on Demand

Rape is one of the oldest crimes, yet in some ways it is the least understood. Criminal law classifies rape as a crime against the person along with murder, robbery, and battery. But in at least one respect rape is unique--with few exceptions its perpetrators are male and its victims are female. The gendered nature of rape raises questions of equality and fairness as well as about the scope of individual rights to autonomy, privacy, security, and bodily integrity. Rape is therefore an important subject for political and social philosophy as well as for ethics, feminist philosophy, and the philosophy of law. This collection of original essays by leading philosophers investigates the philosophical dimensions of rape in all of its manifestations: act, crime, practice, and institution. The essays examine such issues as the nature of rape; the wrongfulness and harmfulness of rape; the relation of rape to racism, sexism, classism, and other forms of oppression; and the legitimacy of various rape-law doctrines (such as the corroboration requirement, the marital-rape exemption, and the reasonable-belief defense). Each contributor advances a novel argument and seeks to disentangle the conceptual, evaluative, and empirical issues that arise in connection with the crime. Editor Keith Burgess-Jackson provides a substantive introduction, a history of rape law, two extensive bibliographies, and a detailed index to round out this major addition to a much-needed philosophical discussion of rape. A Most Detestable Crime is among the first philosophical anthologies devoted exclusively to the subject of rape--as complex and interesting intellectually as it is pervasive and disturbing socially. It is an essential reference work not only for legal and feminist philosophers, but for feminist scholars and practitioners in every field, including law, medicine, social work, and counseling. This volume will also be of interest to social, political, and legal theorists of every ideological and methodological persuasion.

Book Parts Psychology PDF Free

Parts Psychology PDF
By:Jay Noricks
Published on 2011-01-01 by New University Press LLC

This book adopts a novel, even revolutionary, approach to healing a wide range of psychological problems in therapy. The premise is that all of us have a number of multiple personalities within us who powerfully influence every aspect of our lives. By locating these internal parts and neutralizing the effects of the high-energy, often traumatic, experiences that created them, Parts Psychology demonstrates that patients can heal rapidly and completely from long-held emotional issues. The core of the book contains the healing narratives for 12 patients who, except for the problems that brought them to therapy, lead relatively normal lives. Several chapters describe the treatment process for such problems of emotional intimacy as lost love, low sexual desire, jealousy, and sexual swinging. Others describe issues of compulsion such as binge eating, porn addiction and bulimia. Several chapters detail success stories in the treatment of anger and rage, depression, grief and anxiety. Child abuse appears in the history of a number of patients. Each story begins with the first meeting with the therapist and concludes when the patient graduates from therapy. A first look at patients inner worlds might suggest to some the presence of multiple personality disorder (dissociative identity disorder). And many patients are shocked to find that they can have conversations with themselves. However, the case studies illustrate that having unconscious parts (subpersonalities), represented by a range of images, is normal. Although people may use fascinating images to represent their internal worlds, the more important content of a part of the self is its unique set of memories. Life experiences recorded in memory are the subject matter for therapy. Adult issues always have to do with the painful or novel life experiences that created the parts and the problems in a person s life, especially the adaptations and experiences of childhood.
